Travel Photo Album; Favorite Photo Of Ferryman Crossing Border River .

The photo of the ferryman was taken from another ferryboat moored to the river bank, on the China side of the river. The ferryman crossing the river was answering a call from a woman on the Vietnam side, who was on her way to the bordertown market, to sell her goods. This photo is a favorite photo because it was the first photo I took of the country of Vietnam, from where many of my friends originally came. The temptation was too great to resist, so the first thing I shouted when getting to the side of the border river, was, 'Good Morning Vietnam!'. The Vietnamese woman was brought safely across the river by the ferryman, hauling himself and the boat, by use of an overhead rope, slung between anchor points on each side of the river. Near to the moored ferryboat from which the photo was taken, a woman crouched at the side of a raft busily washing some clothes in the river. Another photo was taken for the photo album!
